The January 2016 30-in-30 is about to start; it is a biannual challenge to paint 30 paintings in 30 days. I participate, but I make it my own challenge, since I have no real desire to churn out 30 little paintings, one after another.
A year ago I did one large painting in 30 pieces, one each day. I got bogged down, and toward the end I was just blocking things in. It is still in an unfinished state.
In September I did only one painting, with the goal to just work on it every day. I went a couple extra days into October and did a touch up a month or so later, but I finished it.
For this challenge I’m thinking I might make five starts this time, one every six days. I shall be more interested in practicing portraits and greenery than in finishing. That’ll be a big enough stretch for me.
See you in a few days!
